What is IGF-1 LR3?

IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1) is a natural peptide close to insulin, produced mainly by the liver under the effect of growth hormone. The LR3 variant (Long Arg3) carries an arginine at position 3 and an extension of 13 amino acids at the N-terminal. These modifications reduce binding to transporter proteins (IGFBP) and extend the duration of availability in solution.

What the research studies

Work concerns cell growth, protein synthesis and glucose metabolism, mainly in vitro and in animals. IGF-1 is not an authorised "bodybuilding" peptide: our vials (1 mg) are laboratory reagents, with no therapeutic use.

Why "LR3"?

Long: an extension of 13 amino acids. R3: an arginine replaces glutamic acid in position 3. Hence a weaker binding to IGFBP.

What is the difference with HGH?

HGH is the pituitary hormone. IGF-1 is one of its mediators, produced in particular by the liver. LR3 is a laboratory form of this IGF-1.
